A niece, Sandra Brown (who I've only met recently on Face Book) shared
a "Chamorro Christmas" on you tube on my FB page
and got me thinking...
about past Holidays celebrated on Guam as a child
sigh....
Our family didn't have a lot of money to spend at Christmas
(Dad was a mechanic and Mom was a homemaker AND there were 6 kids)
But, my memories of those Christmases
are like a big warm bear hug and I'm always so grateful
for my parents, my upbringing, my family...
My younger brothers...Eddie Jr (left) and Jack Daniel Mom always hid the gifts til Xmas Eve |
I found this photo of a Christmas in the 1960s
geez...look at that "Charlie Brown" tree
I loved that fake Christmas tree!
Back then there weren't any large malls
Town House store was the place to shop for our Holiday outfits
Now, there is a Holiday Light and Snow Show
at the Micronesia Mall in Dededo
Today, I celebrate Hannukah AND Christmas!
(The Hubby is Jewish)
My kids don't have to pick...they're happy to celebrate both!
Who knows...one day I may have the opportunity
to celebrate Christmas again on Guam
that would really be special for me!
Enjoy the Day!
